The Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads cover

Jackson Futrell’s review of the albumThe Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads

Lift To Experience · 2017

I was equally amazed by this album and frustrated by this album. Amazed because the music was unlike anything I’ve ever heard in a Christian album and honestly really in any kind of album. Frustrated because 1, I wish more Christians actually really tried to do something artistically beautiful like this. But more importantly 2, frustrated that even though this album was amazing as much as it was kind of weird It was hard to tell how much was just for the concept and how much was real belief but it definitely had a lot of Christian nationalism and just weird beliefs. That’s really the only thing that kind of made me not enjoy. It was the fact that I felt like I had to kind of keep my heart on guard. I think the fact that a lot of the reviews I looked at were non-religious people maybe should have given me a hint that it wasn’t heavy on the theology side. By no means did I feel like it was horrendous or heretical or anything like that, but it definitely wasn’t nurturing to the soul for me personally. That being said, the music was incredible. There were a lot of moments that were just really incredible to hear or to listen to. The end of the whole album is really done well and really does make you feel like you’re about to experience some thing. Incredible.
