The Arctic Monkeys' Hollywood noir record: slowed to a prowl, slicked with falsetto and Sabbath-via-Dre low end. "Do I Wanna Know?" gave them a second global life, and Turner's lounge-lizard persona never slips. Less giddy than the Sheffield records, far more seductive — the rare mid-career reinvention that stuck.

About
AM is the fifth studio album by the English indie rock band Arctic Monkeys. It was released on 9 September 2013 in Europe, 6 September 2013 in Australia, and 10 September 2013 in the United States. On 15 July 2013, the album cover artwork was revealed. The album features the singles: "R U Mine?", "Do I Wanna Know?" and "Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?". It also features guest appearances by Josh Homme, Bill Ryder-Jones and Pete Thomas. It was produced by James Ford and co-produced by Ross Orton at Sage & Sound Recording in Los Angeles and Rancho De La Luna in Joshua Tree, California. On 11 September 2013, the album reached number 1 on the mid-week UK Albums Chart, having sold more than 97,000 copies. The album received widespread critical acclaim and was nominated for the 2013 Mercury Prize for best album. On 13 September 2013, only four days after its release, the album was certified Gold in the United Kingdom.
