Terms of service

Last updated 10 June 2026

These terms are the deal between you and Riffiter. By creating an account — or ticking the box at signup, or continuing with Google or Spotify — you accept them. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

The service

Riffiter (riffiter.com, operated from Istanbul, Türkiye) is a music logging and discovery platform: you connect your listening, rate albums, write reviews, build lists, log concerts, and follow people whose taste you trust. It's provided as-is while we build it — features will change, and we may add, modify, or retire parts of the service.

Who can use it

You must be at least 16 years old. By signing up you confirm that you are, and that the information you give us is accurate. One person, one account.

Your account

You're responsible for what happens under your account: keep your password to yourself and tell us if you think it's been compromised. Don't impersonate anyone, and don't pick a username to squat or deceive. You can delete your account anytime in Settings — everything goes with it, immediately.

Your content

Your reviews, ratings, lists, and diary entries are yours — you keep every right you have in them. By posting, you grant Riffiter a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute that content within the service: on the pages where it belongs, in feeds, and in the share images you choose to generate. That's the whole point of posting, and nothing more: we don't sell your content or license it to third parties. The license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies already shared by you or cached briefly by infrastructure.

Post only what you have the right to post. Quoting a lyric line in a review is fine; pasting someone else's full work is not.

House rules

Argue about the music as hard as you like — that's the sport. But: no harassment, no hate speech, no threats, no spam, no impersonation, no posting other people's private information. Ratings must be your own opinion — coordinated review-bombing and paid or bot ratings get removed and the accounts banned.

Also off-limits: scraping or bulk-harvesting the site beyond what robots.txt allows, probing or breaking security, circumventing rate limits, and using the service to develop a competing dataset.

We moderate reports and remove content that crosses the line; repeat offenders lose their accounts. Moderation actions are logged and can be appealed by emailing us.

Catalog data & third-party content

Album, artist, and concert metadata is aggregated from community and open music databases (credited in the footer) plus our own community's contributions. We work to keep it accurate but can't guarantee every credit and date — corrections are welcome via Contribute. Setlists are sourced from setlist.fm under CC BY-SA and attributed where shown. News items are excerpts with full credit and a link to the original source; the linked sites are not ours.

Tickets & affiliate links

Concert listings may link to third-party ticket sellers. Some of those links are affiliate links — if you buy, Riffiter may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Sellers are independent businesses: the purchase, the price, and the event itself are between you and them, and we're not a party to it.

Third-party services

Connecting Spotify, Last.fm, or ListenBrainz is optional and governed by their own terms. We only read listening history — see the privacy policy for exactly what flows where.

Copyright complaints

If you believe content on Riffiter infringes your copyright, email [email protected]with the work, the URL, and your contact details. We review promptly, remove infringing material, and terminate repeat infringers' accounts.

Suspension & termination

We can suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms, abuse the service, or create legal risk — with notice where practical, immediately where necessary (spam, security, illegal content). You can leave anytime by deleting your account in Settings.

Disclaimers

The service is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted availability. Community ratings and reviews are opinions of their authors, not ours, and catalog data may contain errors.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent the law allows, Riffiter is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim — today the service is free, so that's €50. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited (such as for intent or gross negligence), and consumers keep every protection their local mandatory law gives them.

Indemnity

If your content or your breach of these terms gets us sued, you agree to cover the reasonable costs and damages that result. This doesn't apply to claims caused by our own fault.

Changes to these terms

We can update these terms as the service evolves. For material changes we'll give notice in the product before they take effect; continuing to use Riffiter after that date means you accept the new terms. If you don't, delete your account — no hard feelings.

Governing law & disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, and disputes belong to the courts and enforcement offices of Istanbul (Çağlayan). If you're a consumer, you also keep the right to mandatory protections — and competent consumer authorities — of the country you live in.

The boring but necessary

If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest stays in force. These terms, the privacy policy, and the cookie policy are the entire agreement between us about the service.
