Jackson Futrell’s review of the albumThe Colour and the Shape

Original review (3.5 stars) I feel like this was just a nice solid alt-rock record. I would rate it higher but I feel like the second half did fall off a bit. Favorite song? Everlong I have definitely changed my opinion on this album. For quiet a few reasons. One of the main ones is simply giving the songs time to settle into my psyche and finding meaning and connection. Another reason is “My Hero” recently really helped me process the loss of a loved one. But yeah this album is banging and I don’t care if that’s a basic opinion. I love Dave Grohl’s screams as well as his softness. Taylor Hawkins drumming is nearly perfect. And these songs really capture the fun, loudness, but also softness and nostalgic sides of rock.
