Poppy finally finding her voice - if her debut album was a fun, but unremarkable pop album and her sophomore already presented a nice evolution in her pop sound + presented an interesting metal direction for her to head into, "I Disagree" sees her diving into the metal sound with all her body, her previous album metal songs, "X" and "Play Destroy" were seen mostly as gimmicks, the juxtaposition between cute and harsh, metal and pop that despite being good, could wear off quickly, but thankfully "I Disagree" ditches the gimmicky nature of these songs and sees Poppy walking through full-blown metal songs without losing the essence of what's "Poppy", a successful incorporation of metal into her sound in a way that makes it her own, twisting it through her more "cute" vocals but without doing a jarring juxtaposition, blending them both in a seamless and natural way, making the songs alluring and interesting, coupling it with also a good dynamic production and efficient hooks that makes it all punchy and captivating in a consistent sound that as much as it follows the trend of 2000s nu metal revival, it also presents something new and exciting within its premise.

About

I Disagree is the third studio album by American singer and YouTube personality Poppy. It was released on January 10, 2020, via Sumerian Records. The album is her first release on Sumerian Records following her departure from Mad Decent in 2019. It is also her final collaborative project with Titanic Sinclair before the end of their creative partnership in 2019. Background and release Poppy began work on I Disagree shortly after the release of Am I a Girl?, calling the album post-genre and "heavy". "Concrete" was released as the lead single from the album on August 22, 2019. It was released alongside a music video. The release of "Concrete" came shortly after an announcement of Poppy signing with Sumerian Records. The album's cover, title and release date were revealed on September 30, 2019 via Poppy's social media accounts. The album art was done by Jesse Draxler. "I Disagree" was released as the second single from the album on October 4, 2019, alongside a music video. "Bloodmoney" was released as the third single from the album on November 6, 2019, along with the announcement of a 2020 US tour in support of I Disagree and a music video.

The tracklist of I Disagree was revealed via Poppy's social media on November 26, 2019. "Fill the Crown" was released as the fourth single from the album on December 11, 2019, alongside a music video. "Anything Like Me" is set to be released as the album's fifth single on the same day as the album - January 10, 2020, with the music video directed by Jesse Draxler and Poppy.
