Donda

Donda is primarily a hip hop and gospel album, incorporating elements from West's earlier work, such as progressive rap, pop, and trap, as well as influences from boom bap, drill, electropop, hip house, and industrial hip hop. It has been described as both minimalist and maximalist, with a reduced presence of drums in the production. The album features darker lyrics than West's previous work, exploring religion, addiction, his ego, his mental instability, his family relationships, his divorce from Kim Kardashian, and his mother, Donda C. West, after whom the album is named. Donda divided music critics upon its release; many felt the album was too long and lacked coherence, though some considered it superior to his previous albums, ye (self-titled) (2018) and JESUS ​​IS KING (2019). The album also generated controversy due to the collaborations with DaBaby and Marilyn Manson on the track "Jail pt 2," following accusations of homophobia and abuse, respectively.
