Concrete and Gold hires pop architect Greg Kurstin to produce Foo Fighters' heaviest record — an inspired contradiction that yields "Run"'s thrash-pop and Paul McCartney drumming on a deep cut. The songs alternate between genuine grit and reliable formula. Late-period Foos: never bad, rarely surprising, always built to stadium code.
