More Life cover

southbridge’s review of the albumMore Life

Drake · 2017

Made in Toronto, lifted from London and Johannesburg, and the giveaway is that the lifted parts outclass the frame they're hung in. Passionfruit opens with Moodymann telling everyone to stop and start the record over, the most honest thing a Detroit house man has done on a rap album, and Nana Rogues keeps the groove soft enough that I forgive a lot. Get It Together leans on Black Coffee's Superman and Jorja Smith sings it like she never needed Drake in the room. Twenty-two tracks. The 12-inch I'd pay fifteen euros for is those two back to back with no rap side.

You left out Skepta Interlude, which is Drake handing his own record to a London MC and walking out of the room. Best evidence for your point on the whole thing.
