This is a great follow up to HSFHP (which is kinda weak). 2006 was my year of post rock and this was a cornerstone. It’s not their best, but it fit into a magical era for me for a few months in 2006. Glasgow Mega-Snake was the first time they rocked out in an almost alternative rock way that suits them well on this album.
I had never seen Mogwai live except once in a blackout. I got to see them twice touring this album. Once at Coachella which moved me to tears, and then 2 weeks later at Avalon in Boston. What a time to be alive and sober.
