Good Luck, Babe! cover

ninaz’s review of the albumGood Luck, Babe!

Chappell Roan · 2024

the synths are the fat kind that sounded expensive in 1985, and dan nigro has the sense to leave them loud instead of tucking them under her. then the strings arrive and it gets bigger. then the bridge, and it gets bigger again, and she belts the last stretch like she has been holding it in since the first verse. nothing from this decade had done to me what here comes the rain again does, until this. i've played it more than anything on midwest princess and it isn't even on midwest princess. it lives in the same folder as west end girls now and it has earned the spot.
