seven years after coming home and i'd already owned half of this as singles, popular monster since 2019, zombified since 2022. so it plays like a drawer radke kept topping up, not an album. the master is crushed flat, you can hear the limiter grab the second the ronald breakdown lands and the drums lose their air right where they should hit. the last resort redo is the one track i went back for. fine in the car, nothing i'd sit down with.

dreamland was drum machines and a laptop and i defended it. first time in years there is a real kit doing the work. show pony opens on acoustic and when the scuzzy guitars come in for the chorus nothing gets pushed out of the way to make room for them. the vocal on creatures in heaven is squeezed so hard you can hear it breathing around the pad. a tear in space is the one i keep restarting.

let it bleed is the one people name when they want to sound like they've thought about it. this is the one that holds up front to back. keith missed a lot of these sessions so mick taylor gets the room, the sway fade and the back half of can't you hear me knocking where the tape kept rolling and bobby keys just walks in. nobody squashed the drums to make space for guitars either, charlie on moonlight mile is right there under the strings and nobody buried him for it. wild horses still does what it did to everyone at 15. ten, i keep looking for the weak side and can't find it.

little black submarines earns its rise; mind eraser is where the glossy stomp finally turns anonymous. too neat, too eager, three.
