Free · import your ratings
A RateYourMusic alternative that keeps your ratings
Riffiter is a modern, mobile-first music rating and review site: think Letterboxd, for music. Export your ratings from RateYourMusic as a CSV and import them in minutes — we copy your 0.5–5 star scores 1:1 and bring your reviews with them — then rate, review, make lists, and log the concerts you were at on a site that's fast on a phone.
How to migrate
Export your data from RateYourMusic
On rateyourmusic.com, open your profile and click Export your data (or Export with reviews to bring your reviews too). You'll get a CSV of every album you've rated.
Create a free Riffiter account
Email or Spotify, takes a few seconds. No card, no paywall to see your own stats.
Upload the CSV — we copy it 1:1
Settings → Connections → RateYourMusic. We match each album to our catalog and copy your ratings exactly (RYM's 1–10 scale is ours too), reviews included. Re-run anytime; nothing duplicates.
The depth you love, on a site built this decade.
If RateYourMusic taught you to rate everything, you already have the habit — what you're missing is a site that's quick on a phone, doesn't bury your own stats, and treats your ratings as yours to take. Riffiter is that: half-star ratings, reviews, lists and tier-ranked favourites, plus a public profile that's a real page, not a screen locked in an app.
Bring your history over, connect Last.fm or Spotify so new listening captures itself, and pick up where you left off. Your RateYourMusic account stays exactly where it is; the import just means you don't start from zero.
FAQ
- Can I import my RateYourMusic ratings?
- Yes. RateYourMusic lets you export your own ratings as a CSV. Upload it to Riffiter and we match each album to our catalog and copy your ratings across, exactly as you scored them. RYM rates 0.5–5 stars and so do we, so it's a 1:1 copy with no rounding.
- Do my reviews come over too?
- Yes, if you use RateYourMusic's Export with reviews option. The review text rides along with each rating and lands on the matching album, ready to edit.
- Is Riffiter free?
- Yes. Rating, reviewing, lists, importing your history, and seeing all of your stats are free. There's no paywall on your own data.
- How do I export my ratings from RateYourMusic?
- Log in to rateyourmusic.com, go to your profile, and use the Export your data button (Export with reviews if you want your review text). It downloads a CSV; that's the file you upload to Riffiter.
- What if an album I rated isn't in your catalog yet?
- We import everything we can match and tell you how many didn't match. Our catalog grows on demand, so re-running the import later picks up albums that have since been added; nothing duplicates.
- Is this affiliated with RateYourMusic?
- No. Riffiter is an independent music rating and review site. We just make it painless to bring your ratings with you, so switching doesn't mean starting from zero.
RateYourMusic is a trademark of its owner. Riffiter is not affiliated with RateYourMusic; we only help you import data you exported yourself.
