South Korean band wave to earth crafts spacious yet intimate guitar-based rock songs. The Seoul trio of vocalist and guitarist Kim Daniel, bassist Soonjong Cha, and drummer Dongkyu Shin came together in 2019, drawing from jazz, indie rock and lo-fi bedroom pop to create midtempo meditations on love and longing. Sung predominantly in English, its creations feature sparse structures and maximised emotion about the thrill of commitment (“bad”), the pain of being apart (“seasons”) and every intense feeling in between. The group gained global attention for its breezy style via the release of its 2023 debut album, 0.1 flaws and all., festival appearances across Asia and a sold-out tour of North America. In its travels, the outfit has become the unofficial ambassador of Korea’s indie-rock community.
