The Beatles went out with a bang. Knowing the story behind this album, it’s hard not to feel like they covered their entire palette here, giving every member a place to shine both in writing and performance. It sounds like four masters finding the overlapping part in their craft. The transition from I Want You (She's So Heavy) into Here Comes the Sun is one of my favorite moments. It feels like refinding motivation after a really trying night. And the entire second-half medley is perfectly paced. This is especially true for the vinyl since to get to Here Comes the Sun the vinyl needs to physically be flipped to the B-side. Everything blends together while each song still manages to feel individually unique. Just listening to this album leaves me exhilarated. It feels like they couldn't have made another album after this. They had said everything they needed to say at this point in time.

Side one has the songs people hum. Side two has the record. Lennon called the medley junk and pieces with no thread between them, and he was right that the join marks show. That is exactly why it works. Eight fragments run into sixteen minutes that feel like a band emptying its pockets on the way out the door, and "Golden Slumbers" into "The End" is still the best exit anyone has made. The weak spot is Maxwell's Silver Hammer, a novelty song they spent too long on. Take the half star off for that. The 23 seconds of "Her Majesty" only survived because an engineer wasn't allowed to throw tape away, and the album is better with the accident left in.

Abbey Road is the 11th studio album released by the English rock band The Beatles. It is their last recorded album, although Let It Be was the last album released before the band's dissolution in 1970. Work on Abbey Road began in April 1969, and the album was released on 26 September 1969 in the United Kingdom, and 1 October 1969 in the United States. Abbey Road is widely regarded as one of The Beatles' most tightly constructed albums, although the band was barely operating as a functioning unit at the time. In 2012, Abbey Road was voted 14th on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time". In 2009, readers of the magazine also named Abbey Road the greatest Beatles album
