About
"Ekstasis" is the second full length studio album by the American singer,songwriter Julia Holter. It was released in August 2012 by RVNG International. Ekstasis, is a collection of songs written and recorded across the span of three years and marks a return to the playful searching of her 2007 Eating the Stars EP, but guided by newly-learned disciplines, slightly better technology, and nearly limitless home recording time. While Ekstasis reflects the conventions of her classical training, the album is also uncannily, if unknowingly, poppy. Ekstasis received very positive reviews and acclaim upon its release. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album has received an average score of 83, based on 18 reviews, indicating "universal acclaim".
