The album that took punk to the mall and made that a compliment: Dookie compresses Operation Ivy energy and Kinks melody into fifteen songs about boredom, panic attacks and masturbation. "Basket Case" and "When I Come Around" became generational furniture. Thirty years on, every pop-punk band still sounds like a footnote to this.
