About
Day and Night is the eighth studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen, released on 18 September 2026 through School Boy and Interscope Records. Her first double album, it consists of 24 songs divided equally between two discs, Day and Night, each representing a distinct musical and emotional atmosphere. The project follows her 2022 studio album The Loneliest Time and its 2023 companion album The Loveliest Time. Developed during a period of significant personal change, the album draws inspiration from Jepsen's relationship and marriage to producer Cole M.G.N., as well as her experiences surrounding motherhood. Its lyrics explore romantic devotion, longing, intimacy, emotional vulnerability, and the transition from infatuation toward lasting commitment. The album's dual structure emerged from Jepsen's desire to accommodate two contrasting musical directions within a single body of work.

The first disc, Day, emphasizes organic instrumentation, 1960s folk influences, 1970s psychedelia, and experimental pop, while Night explores a more electronic sound influenced by synth-pop, French house, Italo disco, and dance music. Together, the discs present complementary interpretations of love and desire, contrasting the warmth and introspection of daytime with the heightened emotions and energy of nighttime. The album was officially announced on 22 June 2026. Its lead single, On Wires, was released on 26 June, followed by After All on 16 July. The second disc was previewed through Don't Leave Me On The Dance Floor on 7 August and Motivation on 21 August. Versailles was released as a single alongside the album on 18 September 2026. The project was issued in digital, CD, and vinyl formats, including a two-disc physical configuration separating its daytime and nighttime material. Its simultaneous presentation of two interconnected musical worlds expands upon Jepsen's established practice of releasing companion projects, previously demonstrated through E•MO•TION Side B, Dedicated Side B, and The Loveliest Time.
