All reviews →The Hunter is the one, that intro riff has real weight on it. Everywhere else the keyboards are pushed so far up that the guitars sound like they came off a desk instead of an amp, and Lynch is playing at me rather than writing anything. My Elektra press is thin on the bottom too, so that's the record and not the cut. In My Dreams gets called the peak of the whole era and I don't hear it, Tooth and Nail had more dirt on it.
the 'immolation went soft on this one' crowd needs to relax. it's cleaner and a couple songs actually have hooks now, but vigna's riffs still sound like the ground opening up and ross dolan is the most intelligible growler in death metal. shalaty stepping in on drums without missing a beat is the real story. not their most vicious record, but i reach for it more than i expected to.
