Anyway, nineteenth album, guy plays everything himself in a room and it still lands harder than most four-piece bands with an engineer and a budget. This one is where the melody just walks up and does the job, no wobble, no clever detour, which is not a thing I usually have patience for. 4.5, and I feel a bit stupid about it, it's nowhere near my kind of record and it's been on all week anyway.

The doubles could have flattened this, but they stay out of the melody's way. Good record.

one guy in a room is not the achievement people keep making it, half of them sound like the room. nineteen albums in and still landing a real tune is the actual thing, though four and a half is a lot of stars for it.
