The premise does most of the work. Ashe plays the guest who stands up mid-wedding and asks everyone to hold on before it gets legally complicated, and she delivers it with a straight face. That is a funny idea, but "Stop The Wedding!" keeps it from turning into a bit: the joke has an edge, and you can hear someone who has sat through a few weddings she'd have left early. It also answers "Moral of the Story" in a way that rewards anyone who knows the old song, without needing it. Few lead singles this year commit to one image so cleanly and then stay out of its own way.
