Sandra St. Victor wrote it, not him, and you can hear that in the singing. He sounds like he's having a good afternoon at the session and nothing more urgent than that. Everyone says slight and over too fast. Fair, except slight from him in this stretch is still a groove most people would build a whole record around. Kit has give in it too (1995, people in a room, nobody quantizing anything). If this is the taster for the vault comp they could have led with something meatier. Had it on twice this week anyway.

Doesn't matter to me whether anybody quantized it, the tempo is the tempo and this one sits under where I need it after midnight. Play it at eight in the evening and I wouldn't reach over and lift the arm off.
