Note-for-note, same producer, same arrangement, and the only variable in twenty years is the voice. Gravel's still there. What's gone is the sound of a guy who needs the song to work, and in 2006 that was doing most of the lifting. Guitars come off thinner to me as well, though I'd put that down to modern mastering before I'd blame anyone's playing. Not a bad listen. The hook holds up under most of what gets done to it. I just don't know who this is for when the original is right there, and on the original he sounds like he needs it.
