The 40th anniversary expansion actually earns its box: new remaster off the original tapes, plus full unreleased shows from Newcastle and Leeds that finally put the whole Bomber tour on record instead of just the highlight reel. None of the padded-reissue-with-nothing-new nonsense I usually complain about, the soundcheck cuts (Stay Clean, Limb from Limb, Iron Horse) are genuinely worth owning. No motorik hypnosis here, obviously, Lemmy's not that guy, but put the headphones on for the remaster and Fast Eddie's guitar sits somewhere it never did on the old CD transfer. 8.

heard the studio version enough to know exactly what DArkSide is, the Last Resort lift and the bits that basically want to be old Linkin Park, and dressing it up as a live immersive thing doesn't touch the song underneath. Oli commits and the crowd does a lot of the lifting on the chorus, which is most of why it lands at all. fine as a tour document. if you already own NeX GEn there's nothing new here to reach for this one instead. still one of the more middling cuts off that record for me.

conny plank behind the desk and it shows - the same guy who mic'd neu! and kraftwerk let a bunch of teenagers cut a thirteen-minute title track that spends its first four minutes just finding a pulse before schenker, sixteen years old, absurd, takes it over. not can and not trying to be, but that side-long sprawl is the same instinct filtered through hard rock. the 2026 mix actually opens the low end up instead of slapping on a loudness pass, so for once a new mix isn't code for nothing new. headphones only, obviously. motorik heartbeat under a metal record nobody expects it in.
