Sabbath playing boogie rock with keyboards on it, which is not what anyone put Technical Ecstasy on for. The tone is the part I keep coming back to. Iommi is running light and fairly clean for once and the riff holds itself up without leaning on distortion to fake the weight. It isn't heavy and it never sets up like it wants to be, which is more than the people who copied him ever worked out. The 2021 remaster mostly just pushes the keys forward.

Tone's fine, I'll give you that. It's the riff that's the problem, bar-band boogie with keyboards over it, and clean or not it doesn't go anywhere. Dirty Women is where that argument holds up.

The clean tone leaves every note exposed. Iommi still makes the riff swing, and that is the whole trick.
