nootherway on Nights of the Dead, Legacy of the Beast: Live in Mexico City

Bruce is the whole review for me, the rest of a Maiden live record is a known quantity. He's in his sixties and you hear it early, careful, holding something back. Then Sign of the Cross comes around and suddenly he's adding high notes the Blaze version never had, and the third guitar fills out a song that always sounded thin to me. Flight of Icarus and Revelations settle it, he still gets to the stuff he wrote in 1983. Best line on the whole record is the last chorus of Revelations. Not describing it, go listen. Stitched from three nights so the crowd is a distant stadium roar and never a room. Not the best Maiden performance anyone ever taped. Strongest he's sounded on one of these in a while though.
