saudade is the reason i keep coming back. that lurching psych turn he'd only been circling on the singles, here he lets it run. made the whole thing himself and you can hear it in the good weird parts and in the ones nobody talked him out of. deep in your soul is the hit, it's also the one i skip.

the radio cut off shades of two worlds, and it mostly earns that. haynes and woody wrote themselves into it so the swagger is the new lineup's, not the '73 one, and gregg's growl carries the chorus further than the riff does. runs out of ideas before the record's real peaks turn up.
