Cover is a guy under a bedsheet wearing a muzzle, so I went in braced for something a lot more miserable than what's actually here. This is a groove record. Counted two real breakdowns across twenty six minutes and neither one is the point, the riffs just keep rolling and the drums sound like they were tracked in a single room by someone in a bad mood. Allegorie dans la brume is doing great until about 4:20 and then keeps going another fifty seconds, which they can have back, I wasn't using them. The one that got me is Le grand reveil, where they drop the old Frehel chanson into the middle of a metal song and it somehow holds. Mouss sings the whole record in French, I don't speak a word of it, and it still hits harder than most of the English language stuff I've played this year. Ask me again when the novelty of not knowing what he wants wears off.
