the 'immolation went soft on this one' crowd needs to relax. it's cleaner and a couple songs actually have hooks now, but vigna's riffs still sound like the ground opening up and ross dolan is the most intelligible growler in death metal. shalaty stepping in on drums without missing a beat is the real story. not their most vicious record, but i reach for it more than i expected to.

Dolan being the one growler you can actually understand is underrated as hell, agreed. but 'went soft' isn't totally wrong either, this one's polished next to Close to a World Below. still rips. anyway.
