Fontaines D.C. released their fifth album, Dopamine Chamber, on October 16, 2026, on XL Recordings. James Ford produced it, as he did Romance in 2024. It runs 11 tracks and 44 minutes, and it closes a run of five albums in seven years. The reviews call it electronic, and it carries the first guest vocal on any Fontaines song: Rosalía on "Where Is Gone?".
From Dogrel to here
The Dublin band started as a post-punk group with loud guitars and Grian Chatten's accent up front. Every album since has sounded different. Their UK chart peaks:
| Album | Year | UK peak |
|---|---|---|
| Dogrel | 2019 | No. 9 |
| A Hero's Death | 2020 | No. 2 |
| Skinty Fia | 2022 | No. 1 |
| Romance | 2024 | No. 2 |
| Dopamine Chamber | 2026 | out today |
A Hero's Death led the midweek chart in August 2020 and still finished second. Taylor Swift's label moved the CD release of folklore forward by three days, and the gap at the end of the week was about 3,500 sales. Skinty Fia gave the band their first No. 1 two years later.

What the new one sounds like
Chatten's own description is the title. "The album itself is a dopamine chamber," he said when the record was announced in August. "You step inside and we test these different mind or mood-altering pieces of music on you."
Reviewers mostly reach for New Order, Depeche Mode and Massive Attack. Hot Press gave it 9/10 and wrote that the band moved further from the live guitar sound of their early records. Rolling Stone UK gave it five stars. Not everyone agreed: The Line of Best Fit gave it 6/10 and heard a band "stranded somewhere between repeating themselves and fumbling for their next direction", and Paste gave it a C+, calling it "the decent DLC pack to Romance's brand-new, full-fledged game".
The record was made between February 2025 and March 2026, in Suffolk and London, and Chatten recorded his vocals with Ford in a house in Palermo, Sicily.

Rosalía in 48 hours
"Where Is Gone?" came out as the third single a few days before the album. The band sent Rosalía the track, and her vocal came back within 48 hours. Chatten called it "a career high for me, for sure" and said of her: "She has a terrifying level of talent."
No other artist had sung on a Fontaines D.C. song before.

What comes next
The band played a small show at the Roundhouse in London the night before release, for the charity CALM. In 2027 they play two nights at Slane Castle and two at Heaton Park in Manchester. The first UK chart position for Dopamine Chamber comes next Friday.
