A Musicboard alternative that keeps your ratings
Riffiter is a music rating and review site: Letterboxd, for albums instead of films. Moving a Musicboard library across takes a username and about a minute. Type your handle and every album you scored arrives here with the same half stars and the review you wrote under it, and you carry on rating from there.
How to migrate
Create a free Riffiter account
Email or Spotify, a few seconds either way. No card, and nothing about your own library sits behind a paywall.
Type your Musicboard username
Settings → Connections → Musicboard. A bare handle works, so does an @handle or a copied profile link. You don't have to produce a file first; Riffiter reads the ratings straight off your public profile.
Your library lands, scored the way you scored it
Musicboard counts in half stars up to five and so does Riffiter, so every album keeps its exact score and the review you wrote under it. Run it again whenever you have rated more; nothing duplicates.

Logging everything you listen to is the hard part, and you already do it. What changes here is the surface. A Riffiter profile is a web page, indexed and linkable, so a review you write is something you can send to somebody rather than a screen you have to describe.
The catalog runs deeper than albums. Individual tracks have their own pages, with their own ratings and their own reviews under them. A show you went to gets logged the way a record does, down to the setlist. A song's page tells you which films and series it turned up in, and every artist can have a board where people argue about the run.
Because everyone here rates, the site can show you things one critic can't, like the albums Riffiter listeners disagree on most. And whatever you build here stays portable. One button in Settings hands back every rating and review in your account as a CSV, on the same 1 to 10 scale the imports use.
FAQ
- Can I import my Musicboard ratings?
- Yes. Type your Musicboard username in Settings → Connections and Riffiter reads the ratings on your public profile, matches each album to the catalog here and writes your score onto it. Both sites count the same way, in half stars up to five, so a score arrives as the score you gave it and nothing is rounded.
- How do I export my ratings from Musicboard?
- For moving them here you don't have to. The import takes a username and reads your public profile directly, so there is no file to produce and no script to run. Once your ratings are on Riffiter, Settings has a Download CSV button that hands back every rating and review in your account, whenever you want it.
- Do my reviews come over too?
- Yes. Review text is fetched alongside the ratings and lands on the album it was written about, ready to edit. If a rating has no review, the album arrives as a plain score.
- What about the individual songs I rated?
- Album ratings only, for now. Song ratings are skipped rather than approximated onto the album they came from. Riffiter does rate tracks, so those are yours to add here.
- Is there a web version?
- Riffiter is a website first, with an iOS app alongside it. Your profile has a real address, so a rating you leave is a page you can link to, send to somebody, or find again in a search result.
- What if an album I rated isn't in your catalog yet?
- It gets counted and reported back to you rather than silently dropped. The catalog fills in on demand as people look things up, so running the import again later matches more; re-running is safe and never duplicates a rating.
- How many ratings can it bring over at once?
- Up to 5,000 album ratings in a run, taken newest first, which covers all but the deepest libraries. The import is capped at three runs an hour, since each one costs Musicboard page requests on your behalf.
- Is Riffiter free, and is this affiliated with Musicboard?
- Free, and no. Riffiter is an independent music rating and review site. Rating, reviewing, lists, the import and your stats all cost nothing. The import reads only what your Musicboard profile already shows the public, and your account there is left exactly as it is.
