I Am Kloot are an English band comprising John Bramwell (guitar/vocals), Peter Jobson (bass) and Andy Hargreaves (drums). The band formed in Manchester in 1999 and released their debut album, Natural History, in 2001.
The band's members were formerly part of a defunct band "The Mouth"; Bramwell co-fronted The Mouth with Bryan Glancy and the band released one single in the United States (US). I Am Kloot released their debut album, Natural History, in the UK in March 2001 through an offshoot imprint of the Wall of Sound record label, 'We Love You'. Natural History was followed by the I Am Kloot album in September 2003, released on the Echo Records label, and the band enlisted Ian Broudie (The Lightning Seeds) as a producer for the song "Life in a Day".
Echo had originally planned to release "Proof" as a single to promote the second album, but after agreeing on artwork and the track listing, as well as commissioning a Krishna Stott-directed music video that featured Christopher Eccleston, the label decided to issue the single as a download-only release without the agreed-upon material (several copies were issued in Europe on the PIAS record label).
