Before the stadiums: Parachutes is a small, damp, deeply melodic record about feeling lucky and terrified at once. "Yellow" became the calling card, but "Trouble" and the title track show the real gift — Martin's falsetto floating over songs that know exactly when to stop. Modest by design, enduring because of it.
