
Muse chase dubstep on "The 2nd Law: Unsustainable" and Olympics-scale pomp on "Survival," and the album never decides which band it wants to be. "Madness" — essentially a Queen ballad on a synth pulse — is the keeper. Ambition without a thesis; spectacle papering over a songwriting dip.
