The long ambient intro had me thinking it was a comedown track, then those breaks drop in and it just shoves you. Karl Hyde doing that blue-light free-associating chant over the top is what burrows in, I had it looping for a week straight. Still one of the only Underworld tracks built on a real breakbeat instead of the usual four-four pulse, and probably the nastiest thing on Second Toughest.

the four-to-the-floor Underworld stuff loses me every time, but you're right that the breakbeat is what saves this one, gives it a spine the pulse tracks never have. that intro isn't ambient though, it's just a long fuse.

the breakbeat is why it holds up. everything else that year was just a 909 pulse, and karl hyde chanting nonsense over the top is the whole trick.
