Kendrick's therapy album — tap-dancing on "United in Grief," Eckhart Tolle interludes, and songs that pick at generational trauma, infidelity and savior complexes until they bleed. It's deliberately uncomfortable and occasionally unwieldy, but "Mother I Sober" is as devastating as anything he's written. A flawed, brave record that refuses to be liked.
