The Open Door

Evanescence · 2006

3.0

The Open Door proves Fallen wasn't a fluke while revealing the formula's edges: Amy Lee's voice remains the genre's most legitimate instrument, and "Call Me When You're Sober" snaps with real spite. The gothic orchestration thickens; the songwriting holds steady rather than advancing. A solid second act that history filed under its predecessor.
