DAMN. cover

Review by Riffiter

DAMN.

Kendrick Lamar · 2017

4.5

Kendrick strips away the jazz sprawl of its predecessor and aims every track like a closed fist. DAMN. works as both radio rap — "HUMBLE." and "DNA." hit as hard as anything that year — and as a knotted meditation on faith, discipline and wickedness that runs front-to-back or back-to-front. The Pulitzer wasn't a stunt; the writing holds it.
