Invincible

Michael Jackson · 2001

3.0

The maligned final album, better than its reputation: Invincible drowns some of Jackson's sharpest late vocals — "Butterflies," the Rodney Jerkins-built title track — in ballad sprawl and label warfare. At seventy-seven minutes it tests devotion. Trimmed to forty-five, there's a genuinely good record in here; history never let it be heard neutrally.
