The first post-Frusciante test: I'm With You introduces Josh Klinghoffer's textural restraint, and the band responds with their most anonymous set of songs in two decades. "Brendan's Death Song" carries real funeral weight; "The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie" coasts on cowbell. Professional, pleasant, and missing its melodic engine.
