KOD is Cole's sermon album: addiction, taxes and rap-game mentorship delivered in a concept wrapper, self-produced and feature-free as ever. "ATM" and "KOD" knock; "1985" lectures a generation that half-deserved it. The moralizing outpaces the music in stretches, but the intent — and the technical control — command respect.
