The pivot album made under visible strain: Stories softens Avicii's festival architecture with country, soul and pop songwriting rooms. "Waiting for Love" and "For a Better Day" carry the melodic generosity that made him EDM's best tune-writer. History reads it through what came after; on its own terms it's solid, searching work.
