Fallen cover

Fallen

Evanescence · 2003

3.5

The gothic-nu-metal crossover nobody saw coming: Fallen rode Amy Lee's conservatory-trained wail and "Bring Me to Life" to seventeen million copies, and "My Immortal" became the era's piano elegy. The formula thins over a full hour, but Lee's voice — operatic in a genre of grunts — made Evanescence singular, not just successful.
