The cartoon band's masterpiece: Danger Mouse stitches hip-hop, dub and apocalypse-gospel into Albarn's catchiest melancholy. "Feel Good Inc."'s bass lurch and De La Soul cackle made dread danceable; "DARE" and "Kids with Guns" kept the singles coming. Demon Days is 2005 distilled — paranoid, polyglot and oddly comforting.
