Adele at nineteen already sang like the genre's memory: 19 is jazz-school folk-soul with two transcendent peaks — "Chasing Pavements" and the Dylan cover "Make You Feel My Love" — and a lot of promising sketchwork between them. The voice arrived complete; the songwriting would catch up one heartbreak later.
