Recorded in their rehearsal room with the singer months from death, L.A. Woman is The Doors' blues testament: "Riders on the Storm"'s rain-soaked Rhodes, the title track's freeway surge, Morrison's voice deepened into a growl that knows. No theatrics left, just groove and premonition. The strongest possible final word.
