About
Sergent Garcia (born Bruno Garcia, 1964, France) is a French artist who blends his love for Caribbean and Latin grooves with that of his French, punk upbringing. Originally a founding member of the, 1984, French punk sensation Ludwig Von 88, Garcia evolved his rebellious sound, with Sergent Garcia, originally a French Dj with a reggae flair, incorporating the diverse European and tropical sounds of his upbringing. In the late 1990s, Sergent Garcia debuted his unique sound, he dubbed "salsa muffin," on his first record Viva el Sargento. After building an extensive list of shows with his newest band Los Locos del Barrio, which led to Sergent Garcia signing with Virgin Records imprint of EMI France. While crafting his sixth album, Una y Otra Vez, Garcia decided to leave EMI and signed on with U.S. based label, Cumbancha. The 14 track album, released in March 2011, was his first with Cumbancha and, now, in 2012 has released a single with the label that features the Zalama Crew.
