Ponto de Equilíbrio

The band formed in December 1999 in the district of Vila Isabel - birthplace of samba - in Rio de Janeiro. Most of the band have lived and worked there since childhood. They began playing with a love for traditional Jamaican reggae with eight young founders, ranging in age between 15 and 21 years old. Why did they choose the name Ponto De Equilibrio ? In their first month of existence, the band rehearsed but as yet had no name and no suggestions for one, but on the eve of a trip to Sana - a mountainous region, which is a meeting point for fans of reggae in the state of Rio de Janeiro - Luke Kastrup (drummer and composer of some songs) had a dream in which eight members of the group were meeting and the name appeared among them. Hence the name came from a dream and reveals the deep spiritual relationship of their music and contained the spirit of the band's music and lyrics.
