Pinhead Gunpowder

Pinhead Gunpowder is an East Bay punk rock band consisting of Aaron Cometbus (drums, lyrics), Bill Schneider (bass), Billie Joe Armstrong (guitar, vocals) and Jason White (guitar, vocals). The band originally featured Sarah Kirsch (guitar, vocals) until 1994, when she left citing personal differences with Billie Joe Armstrong's primary band Green Day. The band's name comes from a brand of "high octane" green tea discovered by Aaron Cometbus during one of his dumpster diving adventures. Aaron Cometbus, who releases the "Cometbus" fanzine, has played with many other bands, such as Crimpshrine and Cleveland Bound Death Sentence, and has long been a part of East Bay's punk culture. Pinhead Gunpowder's music has been released through Lookout Records, Adeline Records and 1-2-3-4 Go! Records for a series of reissues in 2021.
