American Band

"American Band" is the eleventh studio album from alternative rock band, Drive-By Truckers, released September 30th, 2016 on the ATO Records label. The 11th full-length release for the Southern rock band formed by Mike Cooley and Patterson Hood features songs about such topics as immigration, gun violence, politics, and race. With American Band, they’ve reached another level, as signalled by the omission, for the first time, of a Wes Freed cartoon cover in favour of a sombre grey photo of the Stars and Stripes at half-mast. Upon its release, American Band was met with positive reviews from music critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from critics, the album received an average score of 89, based on 11 reviews, indicating Universal acclaim.
