The Moth

The Moth is the highly ambitious, immersive 23rd studio album by Canadian progressive metal visionary Devin Townsend, released on 29 May 2026 via InsideOut Music. Considered by Townsend to be his defining masterpiece and life's work, the massive project was over a decade in the making. The album functions as a grand rock opera exploring the journey of the human experience from birth to death. It uses the metaphor of a moth—a creature that emerges from a caterpillar, undergoes a painful metamorphosis, and is so drawn to the light that it burns itself away
